Name

Hélène Grimaud Plays Mozart

Description

Thomas Søndergård, conductor
Hélène Grimaud, piano

SØRENSEN Evening Land
MOZART Piano Concerto No. 20, K. 466
RACHMANINOFF Symphony No. 1

Hélène Grimaud’s piano playing is so charged, it can feel as though she has electricity in her fingers. She loves Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20, a work she says reveals Mozart's “deep, painful longing.” Thomas Søndergård makes his SLSO debut, conducting Rachmaninoff’s furious, glowing First Symphony, along with music by Bent Sørensen, winner of the prestigious Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition.
