On your mark. Get set. Go! Who will cross the finish line first—the fast and confident hare or the slow but determined tortoise? Set to the music of Ludwig van Beethoven, Gioachino Rossini, Edward Elgar, and Antonín Dvořák, we bring The Tortoise and the Hare to life as children dance and play along with the musicians of the SLSO. Based on the book The Tortoise and the Hare by Alison Ritchie, illustrated by Nahta Nój.

Explore more! Before the concert, read Alison Ritchie's book The Tortoise and the Hare. Visit the SLSO’s Instrument Playground Online, where you can learn about the instruments you might hear at the concert. Arrive early on the day for special concert-related activities included in the experience. Afterwards, discover more performances that blend orchestral music and children’s literature online at Digital Tiny Tunes.

Purchase individual tickets to this performance here.

Concerts for Kids are inclusive of people with sensory sensitivities. Accommodations will be provided so that everyone may enjoy the experience of live orchestral music.
